Revitalization

Background

This blog was first made as a media for me to express my thoughts regarding truth and related things. However due to the lack of a system to organize the usage of this blog within my wider life, then this blog could not be used fully and became abandoned. The consequence of a lack of a system is the usage of this blog becomes highly disorganized, and inconsistent which along with mental issues lead to the abandonment of this blog for a very long time.

The primary purpose of this blog is as my main medium of delivering my thoughts and opinions to the general public. In this revitalization, that remains true but it is not a primary attachment. My greatest mistake is being attached to reader response and reader count on every post, that my attention is diverted from actually writing into waiting for readers or forcing so that my posts are read by people.

This blog will still be a medium where people can read my writings, thoughts, and opinions and perhaps be enlightened or moved in their hearts. Aside that there is also another goal which becomes the practical goal of this blog, that is as some form of archiving or storage medium for my writings. By uploading to this blog, my writings are effectively more secure and guaranteed in existence as a backup storage already exists.


As such with such purposes and backgrounds, this blog is reactivated with these two goals, as a medium to deliver my writings, opinions, and thoughts to the general public, and second as an archive and backup storage for my writings in anticipation of various emergencies or conditions which may erase my main files from the computer.

Meaning of the Title

Previously the title of this blog is "Ignas rants and ideas", a simple title signifying that it is "my rants and ideas". While this title does not have any over ambitious or arrogant tendencies or any problems it may imply from its title, and that it is actually sufficient for this blog, I still change it to match the title with my Indonesian blog. For that reason, the title of this blog is changed into "Burning Thoughts", which summarize as concise as possible the essence of this blog, that is a collection of my various thoughts written with a burning spirit.

Burning, that is fiery also have a relation with my name which also has the meaning of "fire", thus there is a sentimental and personal value from the title of this blog. Thoughts mean all writings made as a result of my thinking and deep reflections in regards to problems that happen in my life. Therefore once again, the meaning of the title of this blog is as a collection of writings about my thoughts or response towards various problems in this life, which is made with a spirit like a fire, bright, burning, hot, and raging.

In this blog there will be two types of writing which are connected but different, first are philosophical essays and second are general essays. Philosophical essays are essays which specifically discuss about my own philosophy, in those essays I attempt to bring several questions and important observations in philosophy, explore those beginning questions, and deduce some conclusion or new knowledge based on the discussion written in those essays, all according to my own perspective and thought.

General essays are all other essays which are not direct efforts to advance the philosophical science from my side. General essays generally explain my response critically towards various problems or phenomena which I encounter in my life that I feel must be responded. Sometimes these general essays may refer to philosophical essays, but that is as a tool of analysis, where the main object of general essays are still things other than philosophy, discoveries within philosophical essays are merely tools of aid.

Mechanics

As I have said, this blog is also a medium for me to manage my writings into an orderly and systematic collection of writings. In my long term plan, many of these essays will be interconnected, referring to each other, and for that reason there will be many hyperlinks from one essay to the other. Such that in the end the whole of the writings in this blog will become a system of writings which support and other supported by one idea and other ideas. However there will indeed be a first writing which is not supported but becomes the supporter of all other writings.

People have said that blogspots are terrible reference sources in writing an essay, I agree. I agree when making an empirical essay, which rests its claim on claims which must be accountable empirically and also makes a claim which must be accountable empirically, in that condition blogspots are unacceptable. On the other hand I am not making empirical essays, even when empirical the source is myself.

As such when I wish to quote or base an essay of mine on another previous essay of mine, this blogspot becomes a means so there can be a media of "source references" to be included in my essay. Of course this is not to add any empirical support, but more of helping me identify and remember which essays are used in a certain essay. As this blogspot is already a website with a web page, it can be written in the APA style of referencing.

In the end, as the posts in this blog is based upon my written essays, there are no fix schedules on the release or publication of each essay in this blog. While it is true that every day I provide 30 minutes or 1 hour depending on the day for myself to write philosophical essays, it depends on the material which I am discussing. If it is short, perhaps in one week a new essay can be released, but if it is long and dense, it may require a more burning thought, which may take up to several weeks before an essay is published again.

Although this blog is most useful for myself, that is the author, it can not be denied that there may be one or two or several people which are interested in the contents of these essays. You may even protest if these essays contain something disturbing, but I will not censor a single word from all essays which I will write, as I write it primarily for myself, and knowledge must not be censored.
